Tamo, also known as Japanese Ash was the obvious choice for our client. We found slices of this veneer over 24″ wide, so we bought all of it. We have more of their wood left so this kitchen can be yours! Please enquire.

This kitchen is in Gainesville's Duck Pond Historic District. The neighborhood was all but forgotten in the 1980's, but since the charm of these old houses doesn't die easily people have caught on and their value recognized and the restorations are ongoing.

A nice galley kitchen of Zebrano ( also known as Zebrawood) with the grain running horizontally. White solid surface counter top and tile work also installed by us, because Patrick like's to work weekends especially when his wife wants her kitchen back.

Our client was finishing up the build of his new custom home and invited me for a tour. He was interested in something special for his home office. Looking around at the styles of his home and learning a bit about his tastes I had an idea that i thought he may be interested in. A couple of weeks later he stopped by the shop for finished samples and a 3D rendering of what I had in mind. He agreed to the proposal and gave us artistic license to make changes as the project would evolve.
This custom kitchen is a contemporary take on a traditional style. We have grain matched solid wood running horizontally across the lower cabinets. The upper cabinets are traditional shaker profile frame and panel with glass doors above. All of the drawers open with Blum Tip-On Hardware. The heart pine was salvaged from downtown Gainesville historic homes that were torn down to provide real estate for a new development. The boards were de-nailed and re-sawn. The rusty nail holes are still present.
Our clients came to us from Jacksonville with a detailed drawing of their dream kitchen. The clients wanted a kitchen of furniture, which happens to be our specialty. We decided to use Shaker profile quarter sawn maple frames and figured Bird's Eye Maple panels. All of the straight grain solid maple came from only two trees. The matching is a very pleasant effect never found in factory built commodity cabinets.
A small galley kitchen of quarter sawn Claro Walnut. Clean lines, beautiful color, and contemporary design elements make for a nice kitchen.
This kitchen had a pretty bad design and was in worse shape. It’s amazing what we learn not to do when we see an old kitchen, or sometimes new kitchens for that matter. The client has a very keen design sensibility and it was a really great experience working with him. He had lots of design opinions, specific needs, and Harold and Maude quotes that made the job a lot of fun and very interesting. These, like all of our cabinets are made using domestic, no added formaldehyde FSC certified sheet goods. All of our Blum drawer rollers are made in the as well.
Our Maple flat panel cabinetry is a great way to have the contemporary look, achieve excellent durability and quality, and we do it affordably. The boxes, drawers and hardware are the same as we use on all of our custom builds but what cuts costs is the facade. We use an epoxy acrylic pre-finished domestic maple plywood that we edge with with solid maple. The finishing and veneering is eliminated saving us a lot of time and you, a handsome amount of money.
Some people just naturally have great taste. Our client is a professional interior decorator and an all around joy to work with. She has a keen eye for the contemporary and wanted her kitchen to reflect that. Clean lines, tight reveals, and minimal elements say a lot.
Painted flat panel custom kitchen cabinets to mimic the style of old metal cabinets that I still find in houses. Aluminum edging wraps around the vintage edition boomerang Formica. We also placed aluminum edging on the top of the back splash and custom cut the aluminum for the valance to play off the boomerang theme, also found on the pulls. The sink is under mount, a wonderful touch not typically found with laminate counters. The backsplash is a glass subway tile, turned 45 degrees, laid in a box weave pattern, subtly picking up on the boomerang theme. The floor is Marmoleum, the precursor to linoleum. Marmoleum is made of linseed oil and jute fibers. The restored range is vintage. The client is a recovering journalist who wrote in her blog about the experience. http://meghanmeyer.com/
Our client had a 16’ Long and 10’ high wall in their house that just needed something to hold their modest board game collection. We brought in some nice walnut for the job from a mill in Pennsylvania that I have a special relationship with. We were sent several slabs of walnut from the butt of one tree, maybe 6 of them 30” wide, nice pieces. The results were wonderful especially after the library was put to use with barely enough room to hold their collection. Custom sliding ladder
Dwell magazine features custom veneer work in almost every issue. If you ever read the magazine and see the kitchens pay attention and follow the wood graphic. The lines of wood grain are continuos across the panels, razor tight reveals and often bizarre species of wood. The makers are using specialty veneer that they specifically select and then glue to panels themselves, like I have done here. We are able pick the color, the graphic, species and layout. The maker is in control of the composition and the quality. I was formally trained to do this work in California, I apprenticed with a Art Deco maker in Denver. This is a style and technique that offers unlimited possibilities. Contemporary.
Sometimes people want color and not the busyness of wood and I get it. So what they get from me is Excellent craftsmanship and the color they choose with the style they choose. Flat fronts or Shaker frame and panel with several coats of water based lacquer and some clear coat leaves a very durable finish with the color and look of the clients design.
I have a collection of premium quality, swamp recovered Dead Head Cypress that blows my mind every time I look at it. Dead Head Cypress is a colloquialism that refers to original ecosystem Florida Cypress that fell by natural causes, maybe 100 or even thousands of years ago. I bought a microscope so that I could count the growth rings. This wood has intense and pleasing graphics. Every board is special and is treated as such.
